BJP Stalwarts In Attacking Mode In Bengal, Mamata Counters Amid Stormy Campaign
In West Bengal, veteran BJP leaders held several rallies in which party President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched fierce attacks on Mamata Banerjee. Mamata too hit back with loads of acquisitions against BJP.
The BJP veterans are on a stormy campaign trail with string of rallies during the Bengal assembly elections and of late attacking Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her visits to temples and ‘Chandi Paath'(chanting of the Chandi paath Mantras). At the same time, in response, the Trinamool Congress Chief alleged Union Home Minister Amit Shah of plotting against her. Mamata threatened that if the BJP did not stop interfering with the functioning of the Election Commission, she will stage a dharana outside the commission.
Yogi Criticizes Mamata
BJP veteran campaigner and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held three rallies and attacked Mamata fiercely. At a rally in Balrampur in Purulia district, Yogi mocked that Didi saying who the one would get angry hearing name of Lord Ram, has now started going to temples and doing ‘Chandi recitation’.Appealing people to vote for BJP, he said that if thye BJP came to power, the party will punish those responsible for ‘killing party workers in the state’.
Mamata engaged in appeasement of minorities: Nadda
BJP president JP Nadda during his road show in Bishnupur and later during a rally in Kotulpur in Bankura district alleged that Mamata who had been indulging in politics of appeasement for years together is now reciting Sanskrit verses to declare her Hindu identity. Nadda alledged “ Banerjee had won the election in the name of ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’, but people of her party have been engaged in harassing women, killing BJP workers, dictatorship, extortion and appeasement politics for the past decade”.
Forcefully attacking Mamata, he said, “Mamata Banerjee is now reciting Chandi Paath. But in the last 10 years, she has been indulging in appeasement of minorities. She tried to stop Saraswati Puja in the state and created obstacles in immersion of idols of Goddess Durga. She is the same person preventing people from worshiping in temples in West Bengal when the foundation stone for the Ram temple was laid in Ayodhya”.
In the context of the case related to the Batla House encounter 2008, the BJP president reminded Mamata that she had termed it a fake encounter and if she proved wrong then she would retire from politics. So what will she do now?’Nadda questioned.
When will be the play on development and peace? Asks Rajnath
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also addressed the election rallies. He attacked Mamata over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and said that what ‘played’ after the BJP’s victory in West Bengal would be ‘played’ on development and peace. He was confident that the BJP would form the government by winning more than 200 seats in the 294-member house. Singh asked, “What did Banerjee, who was the chief minister twice, give to the people of the state, apart from the troubles”?
He said after the election results were out on May 2, ‘Asol Poribortan’ (real change) will be seen. Pointing to the Bengali-outsider debate sparked by TMC calling BJP a party of outsiders, Singh said that the present day saffron party is an avatar of Jana Sangh, which was founded by Bhoomiputra Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Singh alleged that Mamata Banerjee had failed to maintain law and order in the state.

Shah plotting to harass TMC leaders: Mamata
In response to allegations made by BJP veterans, Mamata attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah and said he was conspiring to harass Trinamool leaders ahead of the elections. She said that Shah has become frustrated by the low turnouts at his rallies. Banerjee also alleged at an election public meeting in Mejia in Bankura that the BJP was plotting to assassinate her as Vivek Sahay, his security director, was removed by the Election Commission after she was injured in Nandigram in Purba Medinipur last week. “What do they want? Do they want to kill me? Do they think that they will win this election by killing me? If they think so, then they are wrong,” she fired at the BJP.
Referring to the alleged attack on her in Nandigram, Mamata said that no wound would stop her from ensuring her party’s victory in the assembly elections.
