  • The Coronavirus has caused havoc all over the world. India is one of the worse sufferers of this Pandemic. Every day, news on distress, despair, and deaths all around are…

The story of two bosom friends

One is staying in Ranchi (Jharkhand) while the other in Ghaziabad, Delhi. Over thousands kilometer distance between the two places may kept them away from each other physically but not emotionally. Yes, this is the reason that Devendra Kumar Sharma from Ranchi traveled more than 1300 kilometers in 24 hours in a car and transported oxygen to his corona positive friend, Rajan.

Devendra received a call from Sanjay Saxena, who lives in Vaishali Ghaziabad, on April 24, saying that there was a dire need for oxygen for the Corona-infected Rajan and oxygen was not being provided there. Rajan was undergoing treatment at Sanjay Saxena’s house and oxygen was left for only a day.

    Rajan’s Life At Threat

Sanjeev Suman, another friend of Devendra and Rajan, died of corona in Noida on April 19. Rajan and Sanjeev Suman’s flats are in the same society in Noida. After the death of Sanjeev, Rajan, who was infected with Corona, was very nervous. He tried hard for beds in hospitals in Noida and Delhi, but could not find a bed anywhere. After this, Rajan appraised his old acquaintance Sanjay Saxena. It was Sanjay Saxena who then took him to his home in Vaishali and Rajan started receiving treatment there.

Devendra Arrives Bokaro To Pick Up Oxygen Cylinder

On April 24, Devendra, after hearing the terrified voice of Sanjay Saxena, was in a panic about where to arrange an oxygen cylinder for his childhood friend Rajan. Devendra left for Bokaro, 150 km from Ranchi, in the night by bike. Families of both Devendra and Rajan are originally from Bokaro. Devendra started searching for the cylinder as soon as he reached Bokaro. When no work was done, Devendra approached Rakesh Kumar Gupta, the owner of the Jharkhand gas plant. Eventually, he found a cylinder there.

Devendra Arrives With Oxygen ‘Sanjeevani’ For His Friend Battling For Breath

Though Devendra received the cylinder, another big problem was ahead for him as to how he would send it to his friend at Vaishali Gaziabad which is more than 1300 kilometer away. But he was quite determined to make cylinder available to his friend. Finally, he decided to travel with the oxygen cylinder. For this, Devendra asked for a car from one of his connections and on Sunday afternoon, driving by himself, he left for Vaishali, Ghaziabad. On the way, he was also questioned during checking and police patrolling at different toll gates about the oxygen cylinder. He explained to police that his friend’s life is in danger and he had to reach there as soon as possible with the oxygen cylinder. After about 24 hours’ long drive, on Monday, he reached his friend Rajan who was then struggling for breath. He saved the life of his friend by bringing the oxygen cylinder at the right time. Now Rajan’s condition is better than before.

    Childhood Friends

Both Devendra and Rajan Singh grew up together in Bokaro. Both came to Delhi for further studies. Here Sanjay Saxena played the role of caretaker for both of them. After completing college, Devendra had to return to Ranchi and work with an Insurance company while Rajan started working in the IT sector in Noida. Rajan lives in Noida with his wife while unmarried Devendra is employed in Rachi. The remaining members of both their families still live in Bokaro. Devendra now says that he will not return to Bokaro until his friend is completely recovered.

This true story of friendship is really an inspiration for everyone and creates a ray of hope in these gloomy times.
